In May this year, coach MacDonald Mtetemera was given targets together with his backroom staff.
The target was: “For the next three games, it is imperative that the team secures a minimum of seven points. Failure to do so will result in further disciplinary action which may include dismissal from your positions.” Read more.. https://waganyumw.com/mtetemera-responds-to-warning-letter/

However, after three games, Mtetemera has only collected five points out of seven, that’s one win and two draws. He has failed to meet the 7 points ultimatum.
He won 2-1 past Mafco, drew 1-all to FCB Nyasa Big Bullets last week and another 1-all draw today to Chitipa United at Karonga Stadium.

He needed to win today to meet the set demand however, the first return to his former side was forced to come from behind to secure a point.

Mtetemera made strides with Chitipa as rookies of 2023 season after beating Bullets and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers back to back and leading the team to a top four finish.

Week number 11 saw him return to a place he had made a no go zone in his stint with Chitipa United that is currently anchoring the log table.

Rajab Nyirenda opened the scoreline at five minutes into the first half to give the home team the lead.

Creck Sporting pushed for a quick reaction that never materialised until 38 minutes when Gift Kadawati found the back of the net.

Come the second half all the changes that were made by both sides were not enough to change the margin.
At the end of the match Chitipa United had secured their third draw of the season from the eleven games played. They only managed a single win.

Speaking after the match Mtetemera expressed ignorance of the ultimatum saying his focus is to get a top 8 slot by the end of the season.

“I am not aware of any ultimatum that was issued as my focus is on a top 8 finish and we are well aware that cannot happen in a day but it’s a process.

“Today we wanted a win but that did not happen. We will build on the point gained as we move forward,” he said.
