The Four Nations Tournament is here! This will be the first senior tournament that Malawi will host in the 20th century since 1988.
The Tournament will see four teams namely; Zambia, Kenya , Zimbabwe and Malawi battling for the supremacy of the ranking.
Apart from being the first tournament for Malawi to host in the 20th century, the tournament will provide a window of opportunity to the participating teams to prepare for the next big competitions and move steps further on the FIFA ranking.
According to a statement released by the Football Association of Malawi this tournament will be one way for the teams to prepare for the coming competitions.
Flames Coach Patrick Mabedi says this is a good way to test his players ahead of the coming assignments
“this four nations tournament has come at a right time for us to see how we are gearing up ahead of the competitive matches. We have been in camp fine tuning and drilling the player but I know this competition will give us a fair assessment of how we are as a team” said Mabedi
The tournament will give a good opportunity for Zimbabwe to make a major comeback after saving 18 months ban by FIFA; which according to the Caretaker Coach Norman Mapeza is a plus to them.
“Trying to re-group after a ban is never easy hence will are taking this tournament very seriously so that we come back to the competitive games with a bang after serving that ban” said Mapeza.
It will be interesting to see some big African football names battling for the championship like Patson Daka representing Zambia in the competition, Gabadinhno Mhango representing Malawi meanwhile Michaeal Olunga representing Kenya.
