A perfect Start for the Rookies Fomo

A dream start for the rookies Fomo FC as they kick start their maiden elite season with a win against Bangwe All Stars at Mulanje Park on Saturday.

Bangwe All Starts was all out for a quick goal as they managed to force a corner 3 minutes into the first half of the game that was well defended.

Despite giving out quick set pieces to the visitors it was clear that the Mulanje based outfit wanted nothing short of a perfect start to the season.  They quickly settled into the game enjoying a good share of possession.

Christopher Nyambose could not wait for recess to make a change to his side as at 38 minutes he rested Geoffrey Mwase and Sheriff Shamama for Aubrey Maloya and Suzgo Mwakasinga. This was not enough to quench the fire of the home team that continued with the dominance.

There were a few clear chances from both ends that failed to change the scores to keep the game goalless at half time.

It was at 50 minutes that Prince Kajore scored for the home team but it was ruled out for offside; that would be his last involvement in the game as he paved way for Rashid Chilomo at 63 minutes.

Both sides tried a number of alterations to break the deadlock but it was at 76 minutes that Fomo found the back of the net through Hassan Luwembe.

The Gilbert Chirwa held on to their slender lead to secure the first win of the season in their first game of the season.
