Over 300 kids show up for Tabitha’s meet and greet session

Scorchers Captain Tabitha Chawinga has urged young people in the country to remain focus on their careers of interest if they want to succeed.

Chawinga made the remarks at Lilongwe Golf Club during a meet and greet session which was organised by non-governmental organisation Mpira Mmudzi Mwathu.

According to Chawinga, most young people fail to accomplish their dream careers because they lose focus as they grow.

“I have heard about Mpira MMudzi before but this is my first time to make an official guest appearance to give a motivation talk to these beautiful smiling faces and I believe my presence here has helped them to start viewing things differently as most people view football as a male dominated sport,” said the Olympique Lyonnais striker.

On his part Mpira Mmudzi founding director Chimango Munthali said they were excited to have finally courted Tabitha to give a motivational talk to the kids.

“Tabitha has a story that will forever live in the country’s memory lane. She is a true definition of how hard work is rewarding so it is an honour to us as an organisation to have her on board today,” said Munthali who is also a Football Association of Malawi executive member.

According to Munthali as an organisation they believe in providing platforms to young minds to acquire knowledge and skills as life is a continuous learning process.

“Here at Mpira Mmudzi we do not just view football as a sport. We believe football can be used as a tool to foster development among young people hence organising these sessions,” he Munthali.

And one of the Mpira Mmudzi players Gracinda Liwewe could not hide her excitement at meeting Tabitha in person.

Chawinga with Liwewe

‘I have heard a lot about her but this is the first time I am meeting her,” she said.

According to Liwewe she will stay focused on taking football as a career so that one day she can become the next Tabitha Chawinga.
