Silver Strikers Reserve has reached the round of 16 of the K20 million King Kabvina Champions Cup after a 8-2 thumping over Dzoole Medicals on Sunday a match which took place at Champion Stadium in Mponela, Dowa.

The Medical men were the first to score in the 4th minute of the first half through Willard Njoka.

However, the youthful Bankers regrouped and kept winning possessions and levelled the scores at the 19th minute through Emanuel Nyakutepa.

It was wave after wave as the Bwandiro based side kept pressing and took the lead at 24th minute through Ebenezer Mpangene.

At the end of the first half, Bankers were leading 7-1 through a brace from Nyakutepa, another from Mpangane and a lone goal from Basuli Jali. Malizani Kalema scored a brace and completed his hat trick in the second half.

Though Joka came again to bite and completed his brace, it was difficult to help his side as the match ended 8-2.

Speaking to our reporter after the match, second assistant coach for Silver Strikers Reserve Shadreck Chikhosi said their opponent gave them a good game.

He further said people should expect to watch good football in this years’ tournament saying his side is ready to win the trophy.

On his part, head coach for Dzoole Medicals Gelard Chithyola said their coming was to learn from Bankers.

“We gave them too much respect and they punished us with more goals. You saw our boys were second on the ball, a thing that made us lose,” he said.

Other results on Saturday, Namitete Zitha also reached the round of 16 after their opponent Mchalochalo FC failed to show-up and Zitha progressed with two goals to nil.
