Beating Dowa Young Academy 3-2 on post match penalties today has given confidence to Kalonga Rovers head coach Evance Munthali of winning the cup.
He said, with what his boys have done, it is now possible for them to win the K20 million Champions Cup.
The match which was played at Champion Stadium in Dowa district ended one all in regulation time with Emmanuel Mitole’s 53 minute opener for Young Academy equalized by Freza Zamadeya at 66 minutes.
Munthali said he was happy that they have progressed into the round of 16 despite his charges missing chances.
“Our opponent was good today. They exposed our weakness. However we managed to hold them and managed to knock them out on penalties,” he said.
On his part, Dowa Young Academy head coach, McMillan Maziya accepted the defeat, attributing it to fatigue.
“On Thursday we played a Castel Cup match and after that we started preparing for this game, it was not easy,” he said.
The next match in round of 32 will be between Ekhaya FC from Blantyre who will face Santhe Admarc tomorrow at the same ground.
