Blantyre – A TNM official who was managing the e-ticketing gate at Kamuzu Stadium during the Super League of Malawi fixture between FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mafco FC has been arrested.
A source has informed Wa Ganyu of the arrest saying the suspect was found getting cash and hiding in his socks instead of following the right channel.
“We received a tipoff and informed the Malawi Police Service who were at the stadium. They quickly arrested him and when we checked we found that he had hidden some money in the socks. We found money around K42 000 in the socks,” he said.
“He was not supposed to receive cash and people wondered when they saw him getting cash,” he added.
The suspect was taken in a police vehicle and is expected to spend a night in police custody pending further investigations and a court appearance where he will be officially charged.
Last month, the court in Blantyre sentenced Madalitso Mitole to five months in prison for being found with match day tickets which was selling at K3000 instead of the official K4000.
This happened when Bullets hosted Moyale at Kamuzu Stadium.
