We aim to score seven goals against Mauritius, says Fazili

Malawi National Women’s football team coach Lovemore Fazili stressed the need for goals on Monday when the team played Mauritius in the last group B matches on Monday.

As it stands, Malawi is four goals short of Botswana who top the group.

“Three points alone will not do us the job so we are looking at a minimum of seven goals for us to secure a spot into the semis,” said Fazili.

Since Wednesday Fazili has alternated the upfront combinations that have not given him the desired result however he is optimistic that the lessons gotten from the two games will be crucial.

“Our striking partnerships have been tried in the last two games regardless of not giving us the results but we now know what works and what isn’t, so we are hoping for the very best,” said Fazili.

In 2023 Malawi enjoyed a 100 percent win record from its group up to the final when they punished Zambia 2-1.

This year Malawi started with a 1-all draw against Botswana before 1-0 victory over Madagascar.
