Wa Ganyu Here To Confirm
Though 2024 TNM Super League champions Silver Strikers accepted the resignation of coach Peter Mponda on December 26, it’s rumoured the Central Bankers have decided to play a chess game.
They have decided to block Mponda from signing for any club in or outside Malawi.
Wa Ganyu can confirm that Silver is asking Mponda to pay them a sum of K45 million.
A top official from Silver told Wa Ganyu that Mponda collected signing on fees that were supposed to be paid to him in 2025 on renewal of his contract, hence by leaving, he risks breaching contractual terms.
The source said this to Wa Ganyu: “He signed a total of three years contract. He has done one year. Two years remaining. He collected signing on fees that were supposed to be paid to him in 2025. He has breached terms of contract.”
Wa Ganyu is further told by the source: “He has to pay back the signing-on fee for the remainder of the two years contract. He has to pay back the difference in the salary that he pre-collected. He has to pay back damages for breach of contract. He can’t sign for any team unless he pays back to Silver Strikers what he owes the team. He is not free at the moment.”
The source said Silver will do what it takes to block Mponda from signing for any team.
