Wanderers beat Creck to agree terms with keeper Mtete

Mighty Wanderers have secured the services of Mzuzu City Hammers goalkeeper Chancy Mtete, Wa Ganyu with details.

Mtete, 22, was also approached by Creck Sporting Club but failed to present a proper offer giving an opportunity to Wanderers to agree terms with both Hammers and Mtete.

Hammers have asked Wanderers to pay K12 million for the services of Mtete. Nomads have asked for a lower fee which is around K8 million.
However, Nomads have agreed terms with Mtete, a salary of K550 000 and K7 million signing-on fees.

Mtete is on his way to Blantyre on a bus and he is expected to arrive this evening.

A Wanderers official told Wa Ganyu that the coming in of Mtete would mean that William Thole’s contract will not be extended. Thole is demanding around K10 million signing-on-fees.

Before talking to Mtete, Wanderers had approached Brighton Munthali but a majority of Wanderers officials opted for Mtete. “He is young and talented.”

Mtete was outstanding in the Castel Cup where he helped his side to knockout FCB Nyasa Big Bullets on penalties, during the match, Mtete saved three penalties.
