Scorchers Captain Tabitha Chawinga promises a tough game against Copper Queens of Zambia in the two friendlies slated for 22 and 25 February 2025 in Zambia.
Speaking to the press ahead of the games Chawinga said Copper Queens have had a successful rebuilding exercise that has earned them the qualification at global tournaments.
“We are happy to represent the region at the continental showpiece but in these two games we will give them a tough game as we prepare for the Wafcon qualification ourselves,” she said.
On his part head coach Lovemore Fazili said having the professionals in the squad is a big boost and they expect a good game.”
The FIFA Women’s International break accords us an opportunity of having our professionals which is a big deal and a morale boost for the team. It also cements the importance of the competition we are gearing up for,” said Fazili.
The Scorchers will kick start their Wafcon qualification against the winner between Zimbabwe and Angola in the second leg of the run.
Chawinga is expected to partner hersister Temwa in front while Zambia is expected to have Rachel Kundananji andBarbra Banda in front.
Gameswill be at REIZ Arena in Lusaka, Zambia from 3pmthis afternoon.
