Braverhearts Women’s Basketball team has vowed to make Malawi proud as they challenge for glory in the Bridging Foundation Basketball Tournament in Lusaka, Zambia.
Powered by Betway Malawi to the tune of 3 million kwacha, this is the first time in 10 years that Bravehearts has received corporate sponsorship.
Speaking at the Cheque handover ceremony at ABC Blue Gym earlier this week, Bravehearts head coach, Dominic Munyenyembe expressed his satisfaction with the support saying it is a big motivation to them.
“For a long time many companies have ignored basketball and only focused on netball and football so we are happy that Betway has seen the potential in us and decided to support us,” said Munyenyembe.
Betway Malawi’s chief operations officer Charles Phiri said the company is committed in helping different sports teams through their program, Betway Cares.
“As Betway we have an organisation called Betway Cares which looks into our social responsibility core. We already sponsor Silver Strikers, but we also want to help teams in other sports,” he said.
The tournament started yesterday, Friday to Sunday.
