Mighty Wanderers coach Bob Mpinganjira has set his sights on winning the TNM Super League title, citing the team’s determination to end their league drought. The Nomads last won the title in 2017.
Speaking ahead of their league opener against Blue Eagles at Kamuzu Stadium, Mpinganjira acknowledged the strength of their opponents, who were recently promoted to the top flight.
“We all want to win when we play football, and our goal is to win trophies—especially the league title—since we have taken time without winning one,” he said.
Mpinganjira emphasized the need for his side to solidify defensively, stating, “We need to tighten up our defense and make necessary adjustments to our organization.”
Meanwhile, Blue Eagles coach Eliah Kananji expressed confidence in his team’s readiness for the new season following a year in the second-tier league. He said they have studied Wanderers’ strengths and weaknesses and urged his players to exploit their opponents’ vulnerabilities.
“We have had time to observe Wanderers’ weaknesses and strengths, so we will encourage our players to do what’s necessary to win this match,” he said.
The match will be played on Sunday, 6th April at Kamuzu Stadium from 14:30hrs.
