Mighty Wanderers head coach Bob Mpinganjira has urged their supporters to rally behind the team despite being booted out of the Airtel Top 8 by Karonga United, away in Karonga.
The Nomads have exited the cup on a 2-1 aggregate after failing to defend a goal they scored at home in the first leg.
Alfred Chizinga’s brace today helped Karonga to send Nomads packing and qualify for semi-finals—where they will meet the winner between Civil Service United and Mzuzu City Hammers.
But coach Mpinganjira says the Nomads played well, creating scoring opportunities but failed to utilize them.
He then asked fans not to be disappointed but to keep supporting the team.
“That’s football, we tried but in the end we conceded two goals,” said Bob.
“I am worried, can’t do otherwise but to accept. My boys played well. Our supporters should not lose heart, they should encourage the boys. We hope to do well in other games,” he added.
Karonga coach Chris Chimkwita is disappointed to have scored only two goals saying his target was to score more than three goals.
“We failed to hit the target, our plan was to score above three goals. Anyway I am happy that we have progressed,” he said.
