The Super League of Malawi (SULOM) on Wednesday charged Chitipa United and their coach, Kondwa Ikwanga following a misconduct that occurred during their league match against FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at Chitipa Stadium on 23rd August 2025.
The match ended 2-0 in favour of the visitors, Bullets. After the match, Ikwanga was caught on camera arguing and chasing the referee, expressing his dissatisfaction with their officiation.
The situation worsened with Chitipa fans showing their anger on Bullets who had to leave the Stadium under police escort.
Chitipa United and their coach were given 48 hours to respond to the charge sheet before the disciplinary committee seals their fate.
Speaking to Wa Ganyu, sports commentator Anthony Msukwa said SULOM has demonstrated its commitment to promote discipline in the top flight league.
“This will enhance fair play and ensure discipline in the TNM Super League,” said Msukwa adding: “This will not only be on coaches but also help players to behave accordingly in the field of play.”
Msukwa has urged all teams to maintain discipline with an aim of promoting Malawi’s football.
Chitipa have amassed 19 points, just as Moyale Barracks but a better goal difference sees them on position 11 on the log table.
