Karonga United Reserve will face Mponela FC in the final of the National Bank Under-23 Championship on Sunday, 22 March 2026 at Champion Stadium.
The two sides secured their places in the final following impressive semi-final victories played on Friday, 20 March 2026, at the same venue.
Karonga booked their spot with a 2-0 win over Kababa Academy. Madalo Afiki broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute before Paul Gift Mulungu added a second goal to seal the victory.
In the other semi-final, Mponela FC produced a dominant performance to defeat QPL Stars 3-1. Archangel Mayola netted a first-half brace with goals in the 22nd and 38th minutes, while substitute Phillip Banda extended the lead in the 86th minute. Wezzie Gondwe scored a consolation goal for QPL Stars.
Mponela FC head coach Pasco Chirwa was delighted after the victory, saying the team had worked hard to reach the final.
“We really wanted to reach the final, and we have achieved it. I commend the boys for their effort,” he said.
Chirwa added that fans should expect an exciting final on Sunday, emphasizing that his side is determined to be crowned champions.
Karonga head coach Chris Chimkwita Phiri also shared his excitement, praising his players’ performance and urging supporters to turn up in large numbers.
“The boys have shown great fighting spirit. I invite fans to come and watch a high-quality match on Sunday. I believe God will be on our side,” he said.
The third-place match will see Kababa Academy take on QPL Stars at 12:00 noon, followed by the final at 15:00 hours.
The winner of the tournament will receive K10 million, while the runners-up will take home K4 million.
