FDH Bank Premiership sponsors have disbursed the first tranche of seed funding to clubs, injecting K160 million into the 2026/27 Super League of Malawi season.

Super League of Malawi (SULOM) General Secretary Williams Banda said the funds have been released at a crucial time, helping teams prepare for the new season, which kicks off this weekend.

The opening fixture will see defending champions Mighty Wanderers face Karonga United at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

Banda confirmed that each of the 16 participating teams has received K10 million as part of a K20 million subvention per club.

“The teams have started receiving the funds, and we are urging them to use the money responsibly and for its intended purpose. At the end, we will require accountability reports detailing how the funds were utilised before releasing the second instalment,” he said.

SULOM has also directed all clubs to strictly adhere to sponsorship branding requirements by wearing FDH Bank-branded kits throughout the season. Banda warned that non-compliant teams will not be allowed to participate in matches.

“Any team found in violation of this directive will face disciplinary action in accordance with the rules,” he added.

The FDH Bank Premiership is expected to deliver another competitive season as teams compete for the K200 million grand prize.
