Malawi Queens under 23 head coach Joana Kachilika says she is pleased with her team’s performance after completing eight friendly matches against South African clubs.

The Queens Under-23 took part in the tour under an invitation from the Netball Association of South Africa, where they tested themselves against Division 1 and Division 2 clubs as part of preparations and player development.

The team finished with an impressive record of seven wins from eight matches.

Speaking after their final game, a commanding 65-33 victory over Lilies, Kachilika said the tour has been very useful in identifying both strengths and areas that need improvement.

“The results are so encouraging. I am very happy with today’s result because winning our last game was what we wanted most. So far so good, through the games we have learned some lessons which we need to take back to Malawi and work on. Winning seven games out of eight is a big achievement for the team,” she said.

The Queens U23 only defeat came against Tornados, while they responded strongly in the rest of the fixtures.
