FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers are set to renew their rivalry on Saturday, September 5 when the two giants meet at Mpira Stadium in Chiwembe, with only two points separating the sides in the FDH Bank Premiership table.
The encounter brings together two of Malawi’s biggest clubs, with Lilongwe based Silver Strikers currently sitting top of the table on 29 points from 14 matches, while Blantyre based Bullets are fourth on 27 points.
Silver Strikers have enjoyed the stronger campaign so far, winning eight games, drawing five and losing once. They have scored 23 goals and conceded just five. Bullets, meanwhile, have seven wins, six draws and one defeat, scoring 15 goals and conceding seven.
However, recent head-to-head meetings give Bullets reason for confidence. In their last six league meetings between 2023 and 2025, Bullets have won twice; Silver Strikers have won once, while the other three matches ended in draws.
The two sides shared the spoils in both meetings in 2023, with each match ending 1-1. Silver Strikers then secured a 1-0 victory at Kamuzu Stadium in 2024 before the return fixture ended goalless at Silver Stadium.
Bullets have dominated the rivalry since then, winning both meetings in 2025. They claimed a 2-1 victory at Kamuzu Stadium before completing the double with a 1-0 win at Silver Stadium.
The recent form of the two teams also points to a closely contested encounter. Bullets have recorded two wins, two draws and one defeat in their last five league matches. They drew 0-0 with LUANAR Mitundu in their latest outing, after beating Karonga United 1-0 and Chitipa United 2-0, losing 1-0 to Dedza Dynamos and drawing 0-0 with Ekhaya FC.
Silver Strikers have been unbeaten in their last five matches, registering three wins and two draws. They drew 0-0 with Dedza before beating Ekhaya FC 3-0, Creck Sporting Club 1-0 and Karonga United 4-1. Their other match ended in a 1-1 draw against LUANAR Mitundu.
With just two points separating the teams, the meeting carries significant importance at the top end of the table. A win for Silver Strikers would strengthen their position at the summit, while Bullets have an opportunity to close the gap and potentially move closer to the league leaders.
The history between the two sides, combined with their current form and the tight league standings, sets the stage for another highly anticipated meeting between two of Malawi’s football giants.
