FCB Nyasa Big Bullets 0 [1-3] 0 Mzuzu City Hammers
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have been drinking freely including 22 bottles past Kumanda FC, a bottle over Hilltop FC and three bottles past MMF Marine, but the situation was different when Hammers of Mzuzu City visited them at Kamuzu Stadium on Tuesday in the Castel Challenge Cup.
Hammers managed to hold the defending champions well in both halves. They also had moments of finding the back of the net on five occasions but missed even when the goalkeeper was already beaten.
Notable ones, at 60 minutes they found an opportunity through an unmarked Gift Chunga but his shot inside the penalty box was saved by Bullets’ keeper Richard Chimbamba.
At 80 minutes they found another opportunity through Isaiah Nyirenda who could just slot an easy one with Chimbamba already beaten but he sent the ball to supporters.
Bullets found eight clear chances through Babatunde Adepiju (3), Ephraim Kondowe (2), Maxwell Phodo (1), Lloyd Aaron (1), Wongani Lungu (1) but missed.
Among those, four were missed inside the 6-yard box, Adepoju (2), Kondowe (1) but could not find the back of the net even when the goalkeeper on two occasions was already beaten.
Horrible ones, Adepoju missed two, the second miss came at 88 minutes, but he failed to head a loose ball with two yards to the goal line and the goalkeeper could not make a challenge but the Nigerian striker sent the ball over.
What else could they want? Referee Godfrey Nkhakananga had to call for penalties to decide the winner.
Bullets player’s body language could tell that it will be difficult to win the match on post-match penalties when they walk to take them.
Only their captain Gomezgani Chirwa scored but the rest, Collin Mujuru and Stanley Billiat, their penalties went to Hammers keeper Chancy Mtete.
The Hammers converted theirs through Erick Kaonga, Chinonso Promise, Isaiah Nyirenda and Bayo Fatayo, 3-1 it ended.
Hammers will face Mighty Mukuru Wanderers in the final of the Castel Challenge Cup at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Saturday.
