Former Silver Strikers coach, Peter De Jongh, has rallied behind his countryman Arne Slot to break new ground at Liverpool Football Club.

Slot, who guided Feyenoord to their first league title in six years in 2023 will take over the hot seat following the departure of Jurgen Klopp.

“The Champ knows many managers in the Netherlands”, said De Jongh.

“Slot possesses the “Dutch touch,” he added.

According to him, the Dutch brand of football is something to behold, and Slot embodies it remarkably well.

“Slot’s style of play is synonymous with success in the Netherlands. He knows how to orchestrate fluid, attacking football that not only entertains but also delivers results,” he explained.

The Dutch coach has signed a three-year deal, tying him to the premier league club until the summer of 2027, and will start work on 1 June.

His predecessor, Klopp, guided the Reds to seven trophies, including the Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League title a year later, while the team also won the FA Cup in 2022 and the Carabao Cup earlier this year, his final silverware with the club.

During his emotional farewell to Liverpool on Sunday after nearly nine years in charge, Klopp sang Slot’s name to the crowd at Anfield and encouraged them to show their support for the new manager.

Bidding Arne farewell, Dennis at Kloese, CEO for Fayenoord had this to say to his club media: “Arne has undeniably left his mark on Feyenoord, and thus showed not only to the football-loving Netherlands but also the boundaries of what we as a club stand for and are capable of. Liverpool is getting an extraordinary craftsman”.
