After a long search for the first win of the 2024 season match week nine has got Bangwe All Stars smiling after clinching their first win over struggling Chitipa United.
In a beautiful turn of events Bangwe inflicted the similar margin they suffered at Dedza Stadium in week 8 of the elite league.
James Msowoya opened the score sheet at 28 minutes to give the home team a lead at Mpira Stadium.
Chitipa United tried to level the scores but Bangwe were too tactical not to let the slender lead slip off their fingers. It was at 72 minutes when Clever Chikwata doubled the lead to give Mapopa Msukwa hope of getting his first win since moving to Bangwe All Stars.
James Honde finished the day in style for the Bangwe outfit when he slotted home the winner at 90+3 minutes to bang a convincing first win of the season.
Msukwa was all smiles at the end of the game.
“We have played really well though we have missed some chances but we are happy that finally what we have been doing has paid off”
On his part Gift Nkamanga of Chitipa United conceded defeat.
“My boys showcased some signs of fatigue especially in the first 45 minutes and made some mistakes that have costed us”.
