Bingu Stadium not available for U20 women’s match, to play home match in Juba

Andrew Mdzumira

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has confirmed that Malawi’s U-20 Women’s National Team will play both legs of their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers preliminary round against South Sudan in Juba later this month.

Initially, Malawi was expected to host one of the matches at the Bingu National Stadium. However, the venue will be occupied by CAF interclub competitions, with Mighty Wanderers and Silver Strikers scheduled to use it. As a result, FAM has reached an agreement with the South Sudan Football Association for the fixtures to be staged in Juba.

The first match will be played on 23 September 2025, followed by the return leg on 26 September 2025. The winner between Malawi and South Sudan will advance to face either Guinea-Bissau or Congo in the next round.

Head coach Maggie Chombo has named a 29-member provisional squad to begin camp in Blantyre on 13 September 2025. The squad includes 15 players who previously featured against the Central African Republic during the opening round of the qualifiers in May this year.
