Wa Ganyu can confirm that immediate past FCB Nyasa Big Bullets coach Peter Mponda is taking legal action against the club for what he feels is unlawful dismissal.
His lawyer, a Mighty Wanderers board member David Kanyenda, confirmed the development to Wa Ganyu an hour ago.
In a WhatsApp response, Kanyenda said: “I have received instructions from Bullets and Flames genuine legend Mr Peter Mponda to represent him in respect of a labour dispute against his immediate past employer, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC.
“Our esteemed client is aggrieved by the reasons advanced and the procedure adopted to terminate his employment relationship. In our professional estimation, both the reasons and the procedure fall below the minimum standards prescribed by law.
Kanyenda added that Mponda and Bullets have failed to reach an agreement outside the courtroom, leaving the former coach and club legend with the sole option.
“As the parties have failed to reach an amicable negotiated settlement, litigation is the only viable option to find a durable solution to the matter.”
On December 21, Bullets parted ways with Mponda but did not indicate the grounds for his dismissal.
Despite the move, Bullets have not settled his compensation, a move that has prompted Mponda to seek the learned opinion of the courts.
Bullets also have an ongoing player transfer ban slapped by FIFA over a breach of Zimbabwean Ronald Chitiyo’s contract.
