Civil Service United 2-1 FCB Nyasa Big Bullets

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have suffered a second league defeat of the season away to Civil Service United in Lilongwe opening an opportunity to their rivals Mighty Wanderers to go top of the league if they stop Ekhaya FC tomorrow.

A 87 minutes header from captain Moses Banda, connecting a blessing from Blessings Malinda corner secured the Servants maximum points over league leaders.

Civil scored first at 50 minutes with John Dambuleni breaking the deadlock following Bullets’ failure to clear the ball.

Super substitute Ephraim Kondowe who replaced Wongani Lunga at 55 minutes levelled the scores two minutes after being introduced.

When it looked like it was over and points would be shared, Banda, who was voted man of the match, had planned something to inflict pain over Bullets with a super header and it was over for the People’s Team.

Bullets coach Peter Mponda said his charges failed to give it their all. “I am disappointed with the way we have played today, firstly we didn’t dictate the pace of the game, secondly we were not fighting for the ball, we were too relaxed and every time we were second on the ball,” said Mponda.

Despite collecting maximum points, Civil Service United head coach Abbas Makawa acknowledged some problems that the team is still facing.

We have been playing good football, only that we are lacking a killer punch in front and we had a lot of chances. If we could convert those chances we would have won this game maybe with 3 or 4 goals,” said Makawa.

Bullets with 27 points from 11 games is still top with Wanderers second with 26 points in 10 games while Civil is on position 11 with 13 points from 11 games.
