Chikumbutso reminds Dedza of ‘Bullets n’kumadzulo’

There is a saying in football circles that ‘Bullets ndi kumadzulo,’ which means Bullets are more dangerous in the dying minutes of the game.

Chikumbutso Salima had to remind a resilient Dedza Dynamos side after he scored with just 2 minutes to go to give FCB Nyasa Big Bullets their first victory at Dedza Ground.

Bullets were without a win in the past two meetings against Dedza Dynamos in Dedza. Their first league meeting ended in a 1-0 defeat to Bullets.

Their second meeting was a 1-all draw and the third one has ended in favour of the Blantyre based side—getting their first victory.

First half:

Bullets dominated the first half, just after 20 minutes when coach Peter Mponda made a substitution, taking out Maxwell Gasten Phodo for Nigerian Babatunde Adepoju.

The coming of Adepoju made a huge difference, creating three scoring opportunities, two to Salima and one to Chawanangwa Gumbo. He had two attempts with one hitting the side bar and another blocked.

Adepoju: Assisted Salima’s goal

Beautiful passes from midfielder; Lloyd Aaron to Chawanangwa Gumbo, Wongani Lungu, Adepoju, Yamikani Mologeni and Salima brought problems to the Dedza defence but despite that, the visitors had only two shots on target, too little to worry goalkeeper Donnex Mwakasinga.

Unlike the visitors, Dedza had little to show in the first half, with only one serious attempt coming in after 42 minutes from Frank Sanudi whose powerful cracker managed to beat Bullets Richard Chimbamba in goals, but only to be denied by the upright post.

Second half:

Dynamos were on top at the start of the second half as Bullets could not neatly pass, losing balls cheaply to the home team, giving them space to penetrate. But still, the home side failed to convert their chances.

Despite that, Bullets managed to find a goal, beating Mwakasinga in goals after Adepoju chipped the ball to Samali who slotted it into the net at 88 minutes. It was all over. Bullets registered their first victory over Dedza, in Dedza.
