Last year they were called ‘Chitipha’ United for Chitipa following their dominance in the league but that was not the case in the end as they finished fourth from on the log table.

Today they continued their dominance over Karonga United in the top flight league when they thrashed Ingwina Ya Karonga 4-1 on Sunday afternoon to claim their first win of the season.

Chitipa team suffered a 2-0 loss in the first week of the TNM Super league away against Silver Strikers whereas Karonga was 0-1 winners over Baka City in their first game of the campaign.

The early lead looked like what Chitipa wanted to build their confidence as they went flat out in their attack and 18 minutes later, their push paid off after Ntafu capitalised on the Karonga defense lapse to double the lead.

Trevor Kajawa introduced Saulos Moyo, Nanson Mbewe and Blessings Mwalirino for Alfred Chizinga, Obi Rafael and Geoffrey Kaziche at 33 minutes but this was not enough to change the scores until recess.

Come the final half Ramadhan picked up from where he left off to complete the first hat-trick of the season at 52 minutes. Two minutes later Stimela Muyira registered his name on the score sheet for the home team.

Chitipa’s first substitution of the game came at 65 minutes when Simon Mwandala paved way for Peter Mughogho. As the tempo of the game slowed Mwalirino pulled one back for the visitors.

Speaking after clinching their first maximum points Elvis Kafoteka for Chitipa United congratulated his charges for a good reaction from last week’s loss.

On the other end, Kajawa, head coach for Karonga United conceded defeat and hoped for the best in the coming fixtures.
