Civil Service United 0-0 Mighty Wanderers

Civil Service United has denied Mighty Wanderers the opportunity to open a three-point gap on the log table.

After defeating one Blantyre giant, Bullets, three weeks ago, Civil denied Wanderers three points but instead shared the points.

Both teams played well in the first half, but failed to create good chances.

In the second half, Civil played better than Wanderers. They created numerous opportunities but failed to capitalise on them.

Dastan Banda missed a golden opportunity at 53 minutes. Wanderers goalkeeper Madalitso Khungwa denied Civil to break the deadlock on 68 minutes with his beautiful save.

Speaking after denying Wanderers victory, Civil coach Abbas Makawa expressed disappointment with his team’s failure to collect maximum points at home.

“I’m very disappointed because I knew that we were going to collect maximum points but we missed a lot of chances” said Makawa.

Despite failing to collect maximum points, Wanderers coach Bob Mpinganjira expressed happiness with a point, noting that his team did not concede any goals.

“Let me appreciate that we did not concede any goal, so at least being away and having a point is better”, said Mpinganjira.

This means that Wanderers has finished the first round on top having 35 points.
