COSAFA Under-20 Championship kicks-off in Mozambique

The COSAFA Under-20 men’s Championship is set to take place in Maputo, Mozambique, from September 26 to October 5, where 12 teams from Southern Africa will compete for the top spot and with it chance to participate in the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations next year.

The participating teams are hosts Mozambique, Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe and reigning champions Zambia.

Malawi last participated the COSAFA Under 20 Championship in 2022,during this edition, they finished second in group C with 2 wins,0 draws and 1 loss, managing to score a total of 7 goals while conceding 4 .

Malawi defeated Namibia 5-2 and won 2-0 against South Africa with but they lost to Comoros with 2-0.

Defending champions Zambia will face tough competition from South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique , who won the competition in 2020.

The draw for the tournament will take place on September 5, setting the stage for an exciting battle for regional supremacy.

This championship offers a valuable platform for young players to develop their skills and gain international experience.
