A well-timed header from Babanginda Ishaya in the 36th minute, following a precise free kick delivery from Ademola Ajibola, proved decisive as Creck Sporting Club edged Mighty Tigers to claim their first win of the season.

The tightly contested match took place on Sunday, 4 May 2025, at the Champion Stadium in Mponela, Dowa.

The narrow 1-0 victory saw head coach Joseph Kamwendo make some bold tactical changes, leaving out key players such as first-choice goalkeeper Brighton Munthali, team captain Hadji Wali, and Misheck Botomani.

Munthali, who had conceded eight goals in just two previous games, was replaced by Emmance Nyirenda, a decision that ultimately paid off with a clean sheet.

Creck’s assistant coach, Abel Mkandawire, expressed delight at the team’s performance, acknowledging the significance of securing their first three points of the campaign.

We were not perfect, but we prepared well for this match and got the result we needed,” said Mkandawire.

On the opposing side, Tigers’ Technical Director Robin Alufandika accepted the defeat, commending Creck for their strong showing.

When you come up against a physically strong team, and you are weak at the back, it becomes very difficult. They overpowered us today,” he admitted.

The win lifts Creck to 13th place on the league table with four points from four matches. Tigers drop to 15th, managing only three points from five outings.
