Bangwe All Stars faced their 11th defeat in the TNM Super League today at Mpira Stadium against Friends of Mulanje (Fomo) FC.

Fomo defeated Bangwe with a goal to nil, thanks to a lone strike from Hassan Hussein in the 25th minute.

Fomo seems to have a chance to survive, sitting in 13th position, while Bangwe is stuck in 15th position, having won only 2 games out of 19 played.

Speaking after the one-nil defeat, Bangwe coach Rodgers Yasin said they will make amendments.

“With this loss, we are stuck at the bottom, but we will work out and see how we can go, as there are still more games to come,” he stated.

He further urged their supporters not to lose hope of the team’s survival in the league.

“They should not lose heart, we need their support, things will change,” he added.

After surviving the relegation battle, Fomo’s interim coach Elvis Kafoteka, thanked his boys for working hard and explained the importance of winning future games.

“I think it’s better that we take it as a foundation, so we should continue working hard because the battle is still on. We are still not safe, we need to continue winning, continue fighting, that’s what can make us remain in the TNM Super League,” he said.

Chitipa United with 17 points, Bangwe All Stars with 12 points, and Baka City with 8 points are the teams in the relegation zone.
