FDH Bank Cup Champions Blue Eagles FC on Sunday afternoon shattered Kanyenda FC 6-0 in an ongoing K20 million Champions Cup to book their place in the round of 16 of the tournament at Champion Stadium in Mponela, Dowa.
It was a balanced game in the first 20 minutes of the match as the Dowa men tried to pressurise Eagles but the visitors held them until they got their opening goal in the 26th minute.
Patrick Phiri, Alpha Mponda, Steve Banda and James Stambuli were on target in the first half to make 3 nil in favour of the Area 30 police men.
In the 69th minute Stambuli, who has just been promoted from Blue Eagles Reserve completed a brace. On 71 minutes Chikondi Mvula who came on as a substitute nailed the last for Eagles.
Their assistant coach Sankhani Mkandawire said despite the victory, the match wasn’t easy to them and he thanked the players for putting in much effort.
Eagles featured some new faces which Mkandawire said was a plan to see if they can help in the Chipiku Premier Division.
Kanyenda FC head coach Lovemore Tambala said Eagles are an experienced team hence it was not easy to play them.
“We started very well and managed to hold them until they got their first goal in the 26th minute. However, we accept the defeat,” he said.
This was the last match in the Round 32 and Blue Eagles will play against Kalembelembe FC from Dzaleka Refugee Camp in the Round of 16.
