Ekhaya FC have recorded their first victory in the second round of the TNM Super League after a convincing 4-1 win over Songwe Border United on Saturday afternoon at the Mpira Stadium.
The result marks the team’s first win in four second—round fixtures, having previously lost 2-1 to Mzuzu Hammers, 1-0 to Civil Service United and 2-1 to Mafco.
Ekhaya looked determined from the first whistle, with goals from Moses Banda, Levison Mnyenyembe, Alick Lungu, and Emmanuel Savieli who scored from the penalty spot securing the long-awaited three points. Julius Joseph netted the consolation goal for Songwe Border United.
Head coach Enos Chatama was pleased with the win saying today they came with a positive mindset to win the game.
On the other hand, Songwe Border United Coach Christopher Nyambose said he remains optimistic that his side will retain their TNM Super League status despite the setback.
Meanwhile in another match, Mighty Tigers forced a 2-all draw away to Moyale Barracks at Mzuzu Stadium.
Despite the draw, the Kau Kau boys are stuck on position 14 on the log table having 17 points from 19 games.
Their team manager, White Suzumire, has expressed confidence that his side will not be relegated from the top flight league, saying the team still has games to survive the danger.
Today’s match started with Tigers looking more hungry than the home team which gave them two early goals through 0Harrison Kapata at 11th minute followed by Masambiro Kalua’s goal four minutes later.
Raphael Phiri pulled one back for Moyale Barracks at 46 minutes of the first half. Mtopijo Njewa scores in the 79th minute to secure a draw for his team.
