Flames coach Calisto Pasuwa has urged his players to emulate striker Gabadinho Mhango whenever they are in possession of the ball.
Mhango scored a sensational goal, a 44 yards out from the center line to double Malawi’s lead over Namibia in Francistown, Botswana.
Speaking yesterday ahead of today’s World Cup Qualifying clash against Liberia at the Bingu National Stadium, Pasuwa said Mhango’s confidence and creativity on the ball are qualities that can help the team grow and become more competitive.
“He is someone who always has a goal in his heart, and that is something we want to see in some of the boys in this team. I believe this is one quality that local players competing in Cosafa, CHAN and Afcon should be coping,” explained Pasuwa.
He also gave an update on goalkeeper William Thole saying he is fit after sustaining an injury in Botswana. Pasuwa also said Yankho Singo has been ruled out because he is not feeling well.
The Flames coach has also encouraged supporters to come in large numbers to boost the teams’ morale and performance.
The Flames will take on Liberia today at Bingu National Stadium as they continue their campaign in the group H World Cup Qualifiers, with Pasuwa stressing the importance of consistency and boldness in attack.
