Despite that all is well for the Mighty Wanderers club on the pitch, the story is different behind the scenes as Wa Ganyu findings have revealed that the Nomads’ technical staff is being trimmed for away fixtures in order to save money. We Can Confirm.
The bone of contention are game bonuses and allowances as those being dropped get nothing, a move that has forced those traveling with the team to share part of their allowances.
The cut down in technical staff started on May 18th when the team travelled to Mponela, Dowa, to play Creck Sporting in a TNM Super League match that Wanderers won 1-0 with Francisco Madinga scoring the lone goal.
Again, on Sunday, 15th June 2025, the Nomads dropped some officials.
“We have been told that the team will be dropping some officials when playing away. This is to cut costs,” said a source.
During Sunday’s trip to the Champions Stadium for a Super League match against Kamuzu Barracks in Dowa, the team dropped second assistant coach Sherry Msuku, striker’s trainer Peter Wadabwa, performance/data analyst Anstey Chinombo, physiotherapist Victor Walani and a security officer due to what the board said are financial constraints.
“They say Thom [Mpinganjira] is overwhelmed with sponsoring the team on his own, hence coming up with a new mechanism to reduce expenses.

Last time when the team had an away match in the central region, board members decided to drop Wadabwa, security officer Upile, Chinombo and Walani. Msuku was also dropped because by that time he was attending CAF B course.
However, last week when the team travelled to Mchinji to face Creck Sporting at Aubrey Dimba Stadium in a friendly match, all technical members were included because it was the owner of the stadium who footed the bills.
Each technical member gets K100 000 for a win.
“That is a funny arrangement because these people being side-lined take part in preparing the same team. Why not give them an allowance?”
Wa Ganyu understands that last time when the team dropped technical members, they were given less allocations.
“It was the team manager who deducted money from those that travelled to share with members of the technical team that were left behind. So, those who travelled with the team were given K60 000 each as game bonus with the remainder given to those left behind—this is not contractual,” said the source.
Mpinganjira gives Wanderers K30 million every Monday to cover weekly expenses.
