Mario Gadaga, former Blantyre United and Evirom FC coach, says coaching is a stressful job, given the nature of his sacking.

Speaking on Wa Ganyu’s exclusive interview on Tuesday, Gadaga recalled a moment when he saw his face in the newspaper, saying he had been fired while he was on his way to the training ground.

At the time, I was coaching Evirom and heading to the training ground at Blantyre Secondary School. As I approached Kameza Roundabout in Blantyre from Chileka, I saw a newspaper headline announcing I had been dismissed.

“I was surprised because no official had informed me, but I continued to the training ground,” he said.

Gadaga said the decision to dismiss him followed a media interview where he was asked which team he supported. He explained that he had supported FCB Nyasa Big Bullets as a child but had stopped following any club since becoming a coach.

The former coach said the incident highlighted the uncertainty of coaching, stressing that coaching positions are never permanent and anything can happen in football.
