Football clubs that tout themselves as giants in the country have avoided each other in the quarter finals of the FDH Cup conducted on Monday afternoon.

It was done during the halftime break of the round of 16 match between Bangwe All Stars and Kamuzu Barracks at Mpira Stadium in Malawi’s commercial city, Blantyre.

The draw saw Mchinji Villa whose head coach is Joseph Kamwendo being drawn to travel and meet Civil Service United which happens to be his childhood team.

Creck Sporting Club of coach Eliya Kananji, who won the cup last season when he was at Blue Eagles, will be at home against 2025 Malawi’s CAF Confederation Cup flag carriers, Mighty Wanderers.

The defending champions, Blue Eagles have what seems to be a litmus test to prove that they have the ability to defend the cup as they will host Silver Strikers, who are also representing Malawi in the continental showpiece of CAF Champions League.

Following their 3-1 victory through post-match penalties against Bangwe All Stars on Monday, Kamuzu Barracks are expected to travel and play against this year’s Airtel Top 8 Cup winners, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.

The winner between Mchinji and Civil will face the winner between Silver and defending champions Blue Eagles. While the winner between Bullets and Kamuzu Barracks will play the winner between Creck and Wanderers.
