Hot weather affected my boys–Mwase

Mighty Mukuru Wanderers caretaker coach Meck Mwase attributed the hot weather condition to his team’s goalless draw against Mafco FC at Chitowe Stadium on Sunday.

Both sides were heading into this match having enjoyed a 2-0 margin win in week 13 against Karonga United and Chitipa United respectively.

Mwase maintained his midweek first 11 that won against Chitipa at Kamuzu Stadium giving a second opportunity to goalkeeper Dalitso Khungwa who has been inactive.

Mafco started the game on a high note pressing for an early goal through Auspicious Kadzongola and Makawano but all efforts went over the bar.

Wanderers came into the game winning a number of set pieces in the process but all could not yield anything by half time.

Despite a number of changes from both sides no side managed to break the deadlock by the lapse of regulation time for Wanderers to register their fourth draw of the season and fifth one for Mafco FC.

Speaking after the match Mwase commended his boys for a gallant fight but said the hot weather had an impact on his charges.

“It was a difficult game but I should thank the boys for the hard work, a point away from home not bad,” he said.

On his part Jimmy Nzunga of Mafco said it was a painful result as they really hoped for a win but Wanderers were solid at the back.
