Southern Region Football Association’s Premier Division Champions, Chilobwe United, have appointed former FOMO gaffer Elvis Kafoteka as their head coach, effective immediately.
According to a statement released by the club, Kafoteka will be assisted by Jimmy Chikulekule, who led the team to victory in the ThumbsUp Southern Region Football League Premier Division.
The club says the appointment of Kafoteka is in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Football Association of Malawi regarding the qualifications of coaches in the national divisional league, in which Chilobwe will be participating next season.
Kafoteka holds the required CAF B license, while Chikulekule possesses a CAF C license, which does not qualify him to serve as head coach in this second-tier league.
Chikulekule took over as the caretaker of the team in October last year after the previous head coach, Trevor Kajawa, resigned to join Mighty Tigers in an attempt to avoid relegation, which ultimately was unsuccessful.
