Chitipa United assistant coach Elvis Kafoteka took a moment to share his insights and reflections on the team’s early season journey.
Despite encountering challenges, the former Extreme FC coach remains optimistic about the team’s potential.
Chitipa experienced a mixed run, facing a loss against Silver Strikers away in Lilongwe, followed by a confidence-boosting 4-2 victory over Karonga United at Karonga Stadium, only to face another 3-0 setback against giants FCB Nyasa Big Bullets.
In an interview with Wa Ganyu, the former Flames vice-captain expressed his disappointment with results he recorded against Bullets and Silver.
“It’s hard to digest,” he reacted. “We started those games very well but ended up losing. Of course, we lost to two strong teams with skilled players and coaches,” he said.
Despite the setback, Kafoteka says playing against such formidable opponents as a motivation, both for him and players.
“Playing against big teams serves as motivation, both for me as a coach and for the players. They need to showcase their potential and earn recognition at the national team level.”
Regarding the team’s performance, Kafoteka remained steadfast. “I believe I have a talented squad that needs to believe in itself. It’s just the beginning, and we all aim for victories. However, ups and downs are part of life. Let’s continue to support the team,” he added.
Chitipa’s upcoming match will see them travel down south to face FOMO, who are just one position away and equal on points.
