Blue Eagles Football Club head coach, Elia Kananji, has expressed optimism as his team prepares for the final of the prestigious 20 Million Champions Cup.
Speaking to Dowa Online, Kananji stated that everything is going according to plan to stop Blantyre based side Ekhaya FC.
“We know they are a strong side, but we are not intimidated,” said Kananji adding: “We have been preparing well, and our players are committed to giving their all to secure the win. People can expect an exciting match, and we will deliver.”
Blue Eagles have made it to the final after a convincing victory over Mbavi United in the semi-finals.
Ekhaya FC also secured their spot in the final after overcoming Chatoloma Admarc in an intense semi-final clash.
Ekhaya’s assistant coach Moses Chavula is confident, though acknowledging the tough challenge ahead.
Chavula emphasized that while Eagles has a full team of skilled and experienced players, his side is ready to rise to the occasion.
“We are heading into this final round as underdogs, but we want people to know that football is a tough game. We plan to win the Cup,” he said.
Ekhaya is coming from a 5-1 thumping over Chatoloma Admarc in the previous round, a performance that has fuelled the team’s belief in their abilities.
Mbavi have finished third in the tournament after demolishing Chatoloma 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at the same stadium and will go home with K2 million while Chatoloma will receive K1 million for finishing fourth.
The winner of this year’s cup will pocket K6 million with the runners up going home with K3 million.
