Tigers 1-0 Chitipa

After 85 days without seeing a victory, Mighty Tigers’ coach Leo Mpulula can finally afford a rest. Tigers have found victory over Chitipa United at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.

The last time the Blantyre based side won a match was on October 20 this year when they defeated their rivals Bangwe All Stars in the league.

From that day, Tigers have played four games losing three times against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers (5-0), FCB Nyasa Big Bullets (3-0) and Mzuzu City Hammers (1-0) with one draw against Karonga United.

Mpulula was still disappointed despite victory over Chitipa saying the performance of his boys was below average.

“It’s unfortunate that we have won with just a single goal, otherwise we created so many chances,” said Mpulula.

Chitipa United head coach Christopher Nyambose thinks Tigers did not dominate the game but they just managed to find a goal by chance.

Although Chitipa is still struggling in the relegation zone with 23 points from 28 games, Nyambose still thinks they are playing well.

“We have to congratulate Tigers at least they have won komano sikuti amenya mpira ife ndi amene tinali pampira, iwowo angowina game,” said Nyambose.

“Anzathu sikuti apeza ma chances ambiri, kanangobwera ka chigoli kaja ka head through corner that is that,” he added.

Precious Chipungu scored in the 29th minute and was voted player of the match. Tigers sit on position 12 with 32 points from 28 games.
