A Chitipa United official was arrested and detained overnight for being found in illegal possession of matchday tickets in a league match against Ekhaya FC on Monday.

Our source said this happened when the match had just kicked off. He received a phone call that there was a man at the gate selling tickets.

“We rushed to the gate. What happened was that the suspect was telling our official that he had a book of tickets so they should sell and share the money.

“We confronted the Chitipa official but refused and we called the police. After a search we found that he had K32 000 cash and 13 VIP matchday tickets,” said the source.

The suspect will be taken to court.
