Andrew Mdzumira
Mighty Wanderers head coach Bob Mpinganjira and Silver Strikers Ladies coach Andrew Chikhosi have been named the coaches of the month of October, an award sponsored by Pyramid Construction.
This marks the second time this year that Mpinganjira has won the accolade, having also scooped it in May. His recognition comes after an impressive run in October, during which Wanderers won all their matches, including two victories over their rivals FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in both the Super League and the FDH Bank Cup semi-final last week.
Speaking after receiving the award, Mpinganjira expressed delight at being the first coach to win it twice this year.
“It is very motivating and encouraging to us as coaches, and I would like to thank the sponsors for this great initiative,” he said.
On the women’s football front, Chikhosi was honoured for leading Silver Strikers Ladies to a flawless performance in the first round of the National Bank Women’s Premiership, winning all their matches. He expressed pride in being the first coach from the women’s league to be recognized
“I am very happy to be the first coach from the women’s side to receive this award. It shows that women’s football is growing and being appreciated,” said Chikhosi.
Abel Chiumia, Managing Director of Pyramid Construction, said the company is pleased with the impact the awards are making.
“Since the launch of this initiative, we have seen positive results. The awards are motivating coaches to work professionally and improve performance,” Chiumia noted.
