FCB Nyasa Big Bullets’ team that defeated Dedza Dynamos on Wednesday raised a lot of questions among football fans as Lloyd Aaron captained the team despite the presence of Clyde Senaji whom the club’s head coach appointed and announced as the captain for the club.

Aaron is vice to Senaji

In an interview with Wa Ganyu on Wednesday soon after Bullets’ 1-0 victory over Dedza, Mponda stated that Senaji is still the club’s captain, however, the technical panel was unsure if he would play due to an injury he was nursing until the medical team approved him at the eleventh hour that he was fit for the game.

In Malawi we believe that the captain is the only player who has put on the armband. Our captain is Senaji. However, he had an injury and we had already announced today’s team until the time he came from the fitness test which certified him fit, hence you saw Aaron with the armband as the captain,” he said.

The victory, courtesy of 88th minute goal from Chikumbutso Salima, means Bullets have broken the jinx of not getting any victory at Dedza Grand since Dedza Dynamos were promoted into the Super League in 2021.

This is a third league visit for the Blantyre-based side in Dedza as their first visit ended in a defeat before getting a single point in the second visit.

Following Wednesday’s result, Bullets have extended their lead on top of Super League of Malawi log table with three points as they have 12 points seconded by newcomers, Ekhaya FC, who have nine points, with both teams playing four matches each.
