Wa Ganyu
Wanderers 3-0 Panthers
Every dog has its day, after eliminating four Super League teams on post-match penalties, Panthers FC have been taught lessons following a defeat to Mighty Mukuru Wanderers at Kamuzu Stadium, Blantyre.
After knowing that the Chipiku Central Region side is good on penalties, Wanderers dominated the game to make sure that it should not go down to penalties.
First half ended goalless a move which gave Wanderers much pressure and came a different changed side in the second half and gets their first goal at 56 minutes through striker Clement Nyondo who connected home a cross from left back Emmanuel Nyirenda and increased his tally to 13 goals in this year’s Castel Cup.
There was too much pressure in Panthers half and Nomads kept playing in their half and the home team scored another through midfielder Blessings Singini who connected home a loose ball outside the penalty box and it went to the right top corner at 67 minutes.
Gaddie Chirwa inflicted more misery at 87 minutes when he utilized a Dan Kudonto assist, his shot was deflected into the net and it was game over.
Panthers reached this far after knocking out Mafco, Silver Strikers, Chitipa United and Civil Service United all those games on post-match penalties thanks to their goalkeeper Precious Masamba who was saving penalties.
After the match, Msamba was in tears despite supporters giving him money to thank him for his performance. He failed to speak to Wa Ganyu as he faild to hold his tears.
Their assistant coach Innocent Mkandira is motivated with his team. “I am happy with this tournament and it has given us courage. Talking about today’s game, we failed to stop Wanderers in the flanks, if you can see, all the goals came through those angles,” he said.
Wanderers will meet the winner between defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Mzuzu City Hammers. The final will be in Lilongwe on Saturday.
