No team is giving us pressure, maybe if it was Bullets – Mponda

Silver Strikers head coach Peter Mponda thinks Mighty Mukuru Wanderers have no chance of winning the league despite their current form.

Mponda was speaking after his team collected maximum points over Kamuzu Barracks to open a 7-point-gap over Wanderers today.

Asked if he feels he is under pressure, Mponda said there is no pressure because Wanderers cannot challenge the league.

“I don’t think there is any team that is giving us pressure, if it was [FCB Nyasa Big] Bullets we could say yes these guys will come on us because they have done it before, coming from behind but I don’t think Wanderers will catch us,” said Mponda.

Mponda feels Super League of Malawi has done it deliberately to give Wanderers more games at home for them to gain points so they pressure Silver which he said will not work.

“Look at the fixture, they [Wanderers] have been given four easy games at home to collect points but soon they will be given tough games and the league will end there,” he said.

Wanderers played yesterday at home and won 10-0 to bottom placed Baka City. The Nomads are second on the log table with 41 points from 20 games.

Silver leads the table with 48 points from the same number of games, while defending champions Bullets is on 9th position with 27 points from 18 games.
