Andrew Mdzumira

Mighty Wanderers head coach Bob Mpinganjira has commended his team’s commanding performance following their 3-0 win away to Kamuzu Barracks in the TNM Super League fixture played at the Champions Stadium in Mponela, Dowa today.

Speaking after the match, Mpinganjira said he approached the game with a winning mentality and was pleased that his players delivered what was expected of them.

He emphasized that Wanderers are focused on their own style of play and are not concerned with how other teams perform.

“We are doing things the Wanderers way. We don’t have time to look at what others are doing,” said Mpinganjira.

The match saw Gaddie Chirwa break the deadlock in the 49th minute, followed by a quick second goal from Blessings Singini, just three minutes later. Wisdom Mpinganjira hammered the last nail on Kamuzu’s coffin at the 62nd minute, earning all three points for the Nomads.

Following their victory, Wanderers remain in second place on the log table with 19 points from 7 games—just two behind league leaders FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, who have played a game more and amassed 21 points. The Nomads are yet to taste defeat this season.

In today’s match, Wanderers were without several key players. First—choice goalkeeper Chancy Mtete and veteran Richard Chipuwa were both side-lined due to injury. Dalitso Nkhungwa took up the goalkeeping duties, while reserve team goalkeeper Vincent Mdoka was named on the bench.

Meanwhile, Kamuzu Barracks continue to struggle. After nine matches, they have managed only three wins, two draws, and four losses. The latest defeat sees them slip from 8th to 9th on the standings.
