The 2024 TNM Super League season may have ended with FOMO FC, Baka City and Bangwe All Stars facing relegation, but the real drama is just getting started in Malawi’s regional leagues with clubs fighting for a chance to get promotion to the Super League.

The competition has reached an all-time high, from the Southern Region’s ThumbsUp Premier Division to the Central and Northern Regions, every league is buzzing with excitement.

In Southern Region:

In the Southern Region, all eyes are on the ThumbsUp Premier Division League, where Ekhaya United and Red Lions are locked in a thrilling race for promotion. Lions were relegated from the Super League in 2023.

On Thursday, Ekhaya secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Red Lions, extending their lead to 4 points after 8 games.

While Lions are eager to bounce back, Ekhaya is equally determined to secure their place in the elite league, making the competition even more intense. With just a few games remaining, both teams know that every point counts, and this rivalry is sure to deliver high-stakes football in the coming weeks.

Central Region:

In the Central Region, the Chipiku Premier Division League has seen Blue Eagles FC rise to the top. Currently sitting at the summit with 37 points, Blue Eagles are the clear favourites to claim the title and secure their promotion to the Super League.

Eagles’ lead over second-placed Mitundu Baptist (27 points) is substantial, and barring a major upset, Blue Eagles seem destined to win the league.

The FDH Bank Cup champions have been in unstoppable form this season, and their promotion to the Super League will not only be a triumph for the team but a boost for the Central Region’s football scene.

Northern Region:

In the Northern Region, the SIMSO Mzuzu Premier League has already crowned Songwe Border as champions. With their victory, Songwe Border has earned a spot in the 2025 TNM Super League, marking an exciting new chapter for the club.

Their promotion to the top tier of Malawian football is a major achievement, and the team will be looking to make their mark in the upcoming season.
