In a dramatic turn of events, Panthers FC, a team from Chipiku League side has not only taken down one, not two but three teams from the Super League out of the Castel Cup.

It all started with MAFCO FC in the round of 64 then Silver Strikers in the round of 32 and today on Saturday in the round of 16.

Not only did Chitipa struggle to find a goal today, but also said goodbye to Castel Cup after being booted out by Panthers in post penalties.

Just as the way they knocked out Mafco and Silver on penalties, it was the same case this time around booting out Chitipa on penalty shootouts.

When asked why Panthers were so happy just after reaching the penalties, Panthers coach Innocent Mkandira said they knew Chitipa was not a better opponent.

“Yesterday I came here to watch their training, one of the ways that I saw as a coach when analysing our enemy was that of penalties, these taking penalties were not so good, so when we reached the penalties we knew that it is a gamble game, but we knew we can manage,” he said.

On his side, Chitipa coach Christopher Nyambose accepted the defeat and congratulated Panthers.

“Congratulations to the Panthers, they are doing their job well. So far, they have eliminated three top elite league teams  so congratulations to them,” he said.

Panthers plays in the Central Region Premier division league and sits fifth on standings with 15 points from 11 games.
